The Bank's management comprises of highly skilled and experienced personnel. The Bank has continued with aggressive capacity building through staff training and development programmes. The first critical success factor of the bank is about an organization culture that values people, enhances performance and supports the business. This is grounded on seven core values namely Professionalism, Integrity, Creativity, Teamwork, Unity of Purpose, Respect and Dignity for Customers and Effective Corporate Governance.
A lot of emphasis is laid on developing leadership capabilities at all levels of the organization by sponsorships to some of the worlds leading programmes. These include Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Strathmore Business School, Bolder Microfinance Leadership Programme and Ireland Development Institute among others.
The leadership team of the Bank consists of the following persons:-
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Education in Accounting and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi. He is also a graduate of Advanced Management Program (Strathmore-IESE Business School Barcelona, Spain) and also attended various professional courses in banking. He has 16 years of banking and leadership experience in Credit, Corporate Banking and Operations. Prior to joining Equity Bank Tanzania, he worked as the General Manager, Credit in Equity Bank Uganda and General Manager, Corporate Banking Division at Equity Bank Kenya. Before joining Equity Bank, he worked for Cooperative Bank of Kenya for six years in various positions. Joseph joined Equity Bank in 2005.
Stephen holds an Honors Degree in Social Cultural and Development Studies with a major in Accounts and Administration from Moi University Kenya. Stephen has over 17 years of experience in Banking, having worked at Equity Building Society (now Equity Bank) as an Accountant, Assistant Manager, Head of procurement and Admin, Head of Cash Management Centre and GM Market research & product development. He went through the transformation cycle of Equity Building Society to a fully-fledged commercial bank. He held the position of a Branch Manager for ten years. Prior to that Stephen worked for 6 years as a Financial Auditor for the Ministry of Cooperative (Now Ministry of Industry Trade and Cooperatives). He has also worked as the Regional GM- Nairobi West and North Eastern Region in Kenya. He is currently the General Manager -Operations in Equity Bank Tanzania Subsidiary.
Betty holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration (Honors) from the University of Rajasthan, India. She has a Diploma in Computer Programming and is a qualified Trainer of Trainers (ToT) by ILD Consulting as well as a member of the Marketing Africa Forum. Betty is an experienced banker with over 14 years in Relationship Management both in corporate and high net worth relationships. Prior to joining Equity Bank, she worked as the Asst. Vice President Institutional Banking- Bank M Tanzania, Corporate Relationship Manager- KCB Bank Tanzania Limited as well as Savings and Finance (now NIC Bank Tanzania). Betty joined Equity Bank in 2013.
Robert is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. He is a member of both Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) – Tanzania of good standing. He holds an MBA degree in corporate Management from KCA University. He has over 25 years of working experience, 15 of which are in management. Prior to joining Equity Bank, Robert worked with K-Rep Holdings, K-Rep Bank Ltd (Now Sidian Bank), Chemonics International Inc. and Finca. He has extensive regional experience having worked in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and South Sudan. Robert joined Equity Bank in 2009.
